Jake started playing in the Tri-City Inline Hockey League in the Spring Season of 2006. Jake started off in their youngest age bracket, the Mites, which are from age 6 through 8. In this bracket it is not uncommon for the kids to not even know how to skate when they start. Jake had a leg up on most as he already knew how to skate and he had an older brother who never cut him any slack when playing hockey in the street. Jake picked up the game really quickly and has become known for being a hustler and always giving his best effort . February 4th, 2006 Spring League Mite Playoffs, April 22nd, 2006 Spring League Mite Championship Game, April 23rd, 2006 Jake's team led there division throughout the season, and won the championship series. Not a bad first season at all. Summer LeagueThe summer season is a much for relaxed season as they know families are going to take vacations and miss games. So instead of having seat team, players are rotated and switched around throughout the season to both strengthen their play and and keep the games highly competitive. June 3rd, 2006 In the Mites division that do not allow full-time goalies so everyone has to take a turn sometime during the season at being goalie. Today was Jake's turn and he did quite well. Just like Will, Jake does not like playing goalie. He says its boring most of the time and it makes your feet hurt. June 24th, 2006 August 12th, 2006 Summer Mite League Championship Game, August 22nd, 2006 Fall Season 2006For the fall season, Jake ended up on the Gators. It was clear from the team selection/drafting process that Jake ratings had moved up and he was expected to be one of the better players. That proved to be the case as led the entire league in assists, scored 15 goals during the regular season, and even pulled off a hat trick (A hat trick is scoring three goals in a single game) October 28th, 2006 November 4th, 2006 November 18th, 2006 Fall 2006 Mite Playoffs, December 8th, 2006 Jake's team won their playoff game and went to the championship game. I would have some pictures but someone left the memory card for their camera at home (Doh!). It was one of the best Mites games I had ever seen. At the half the score was 1 to 1 (Extremely low for Mites) and it stayed that way until 2 minutes were left in the game when Jake scored a goal to put them up a goal. The Gator's played a good defense game, but with 26 second left the game the other team tied it up. Jake's team would go on to win the game two minutes into the sudden death overtime. Will won his championship game as well so the Porter House is full of Hockey Champs this winter. |
